Dearest Lovely Readers,
You know that feeling when you’re really excited about something and it seems to take forever to arrive?
The release of the The Prospect has been like that for me. The date has been getting closer and closer, but it still felt like such a way off! I’ve been like a kid at Christmas time waiting for Father Christmas to come. And then sometimes I feel like I’ve been living with The Prospect for so long, that it should be on the shelf already.
Then finally, quietly, quietly, the date rolls over and the book is in the shops.
So, THE PROSPECT should be on a shelf near you right now.
Just in case you want a sample of the book before you buy it, you can read the first chapter HERE.
And could I ask you a favour? If you see The Prospect on a shelf, or an advert out and about, can you snap me a pic and send it to me via socials? I’m not getting to Sydney or some of the big capital cities this tour and I’m going to miss out on seeing it in some places. So I’m asking if you could be my eyes and ears.
If you’re interested in coming along to any of my events, you can see where I’m going HERE. I can’t wait to see as many of you as possible. I know there’s a of you who have already contacted me, saying you’re disappointed I’m not coming to your town. Sorry about that, but we have to save places for next year’s tour too!
To put together a tour it’s a juggling act of time and places and if bookshops or libraries are available to put on an event when I’ll be in the area. Sometimes it’s possible and sometimes it’s not. It’s never that I don’t want to come to your town, sometimes we just can’t make it work. There’s also business responsibilities too. Book 3 in the Kalgoorlie series to get to HarperCollins Australia by the 1st of June - I don’t mind telling you that is stressing me no end at the moment, as I’m still editing book 2!
Let me leave you with a couple of fun photos of things I’ve been doing recently; the first one is Shadow living her best life! In case you didn’t know, she’s a rescue dog. I’ve had her since October and she’s settled in so well. She’s very attached to me and me to her. She’s mostly pretty chill, but once in a blue moon, her previous life pops up to remind us all she had a hard time early on. But that’s okay because having lived with domestic violence for twenty years, I understand that the smallest or silliest of things can throw you back in those old feelings, not matter how much work and counselling you’ve had. So Shadow and I have a cuddle and I try and make her feel safe again and then we get on with life.
I also love cooking and find it really restful and grounding, so I’ve been trying to teach myself how to master Greek cooking. Lamb and lemon is about my favourite!
Going back to The Prospect, I hope you love catching up with Zara and Jack as they start their new life in Kalgoorlie. And I really hope you love The Prospect. When I retired Detective Dave Burrows, I was very aware that it could end my career as an author, and now is the telling time. I’m crossing my fingers and everything else that you love The Prospect as much as you’ve loved Dave and his stories.
With love,
Fleur
